Inside Integrations: A conversation with Juweyriya Abdikadir, Revo Integrations Specialist

Whether you’re a growing startup or an enterprise-level multinational, chances are your business operations rely on a complex web of software, apps and platforms. While each tool serves an important purpose, it also introduces an additional data silo. This creates a fragmented tech stack that can slow down operations and cause friction in user experiences. In today’s data-driven environment, integration technology is critical, enabling businesses to connect systems, automate workflows, and turn disconnected tools into unified, productivity-driving solutions.

At Revo, we’ve seen the demand for integration solutions skyrocket in recent years – transforming what was once a niche capability into a core component of our services. To explore this shift, we asked one of Revo’s resident integration engineers, Juweyriya Abdikadir, to share her journey into a tech career and her experiences with real-world integration challenges.

Career path: From forensics to data flows

After completing a degree in Forensic Investigations, Juweyriya found herself looking in unexpected directions when it came to choosing her career.

“I started looking at online courses and came across Code First Girls,” she says. “For about two months, every Thursday, I worked through a course with them, learning the basics – like CSS and HTML. At the end, we built a website in JavaScript, and at this point my interest peaked and I applied for the School of Code bootcamp in Birmingham.”

The School of Code is a full-time, four-month coding bootcamp, designed to help people from non-traditional tech backgrounds to transition into software development roles. As well as empowering Juweyriya with the knowledge and skills to write clean, functioning code, it also offered hands-on experience working in real-life, simulated development environments.

“It felt like being on a real development team – we learnt how to break down problems and built projects from scratch,” Juweyriya recalls.

Shortly after completing the program, Juweyriya landed her first role in tech and this was her introduction to Workato, the integration and automation platform that would later become her core area of expertise at Revo.

Behind the scenes: Integrations at Revo

Fast forward a year to when Revo was navigating a surge in demand from clients seeking integrations and automation solutions. To meet this need, we strengthened our partnership with Workato and expanded our technical team to build the resources to tackle an influx of more complex integration challenges. With her experience in working with Workato, Juweyriya was a key addition to our team.

As a Revo Integration Engineer, her day-to-day work involves designing, building, and maintaining integrations for our clients. The work spans two key areas – migrating legacy integrations onto Workato and developing new custom solutions based on client needs.

“We usually start with a scoping conversation with the client,” she explains. “If they’ve got a process they think could be automated, we’ll assess what’s feasible, what integrations are needed and create a quote. Then, we break it down into phases – design, build, test, and document.”

One of the challenges she enjoys most is figuring out how to bring a new automation ideas to life with integrations.

“The building and testing phases are my favourite,” she said. “Workato has got so many connectors and it’s fun to dive into new ones and work out how they can solve our clients’ problems.”

Real world impact: Adding value with integrations

Through her role at Revo, Juweyriya has seen first-hand how the company’s managed service style approach to integrations delivers real world value to businesses. Unlike other providers who build and hand over projects for clients to host and maintain, Revo takes on full ownership for integrations – from planning and development to hosting, implementation, maintenance, and support.

“Revo manages the entire Workato platform for the client,” Juweyriya explains. “In my previous company, we’d build the integration and send it to the client to host and maintain. But that meant they needed in-house expertise, and if something broke, they were stuck.”

This ongoing support helps clients avoid common pitfalls, that can often go unnoticed until they cause serious disruption. For example, integrations silently breaking due to platform updates or API changes.

“At Revo, we maintain all the integrations, monitor them, and respond quickly if something breaks,” she said. “It also means we can keep improving the integrations over time, even after the project ends.”

One client that Juweyriya has seen experience the tangible benefits of this approach is care provider, Agincare.

“There’s one example that really sticks with me,” she said, referencing her work with Agincare. “Before the integration, they had to manually email a third-party supplier every time a ticket was updated. Now, with the integrations, everything’s automated – status updates are sent automatically, and the team can track everything centrally.”

Looking ahead: From integration to artificial intelligence

As integration and automation become deeply embedded in the way modern businesses operate, the conversation around what comes next is evolving fast. Naturally, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) is at the forefront of this dialogue.

“I think just the whole AI thing is really exciting,” Juweyriya says. “There’s been a lot of talk about AI in the last year and Workato has got some promising things that are coming up. It will be really interesting to see how we can incorporate AI into building our integrations.”

It’s undeniable that the potential for AI is huge and could offer huge benefits in terms of making integrations smarter, more adaptive, and even self-improving, as well as accelerating delivery times.

“With the right integrations we’ve seen how people feel the benefits,” says Juweyriya reminds. “I’ve seen how for the team at Agincare, work gets easier, there’s less confusion, and they can actually focus on more important tasks. The hope is that AI will enable us to get to this point for more clients, faster.”
